The challenge

Working in the heart of the city centre, as part of the regeneration of the old bus depot site, Queensberry Homes are creating a mixed use development – retail and residential. These developments comprise 1,000 m2
of retail space and 151 residential units across two plots within the New Waverley masterplan. A tight inner city site, these projects have required early, detailed review of logistics with the contractor, Cruden.

Our solution

Our design solution has used a flat slab reinforced concrete construction ensuring fully flexible spaces  and allowing swift follow-on construction of the envelope and internal fit out works. As with all of our concrete frames, we utilised Finite Element design of the structure to minimise concrete volume and reinforcement weight in order to minimise material and energy waste.
